While its minimalist panache makes the belt-driven AT-LPW50PB an eye-catching addition to any space, Audio-Technica spared no effort in honoring its heritage craftsmanship to ensure premium playback. For its 30-millimeter-thick plinth, Audio-Technica opted for medium-density fiberboard (MDF), known for its anti-resonance properties and capacity to reduce low-frequency feedback.
A heavy-duty rubber damping mat sits atop a die-cast aluminum platter, reducing weight and improving lows while reducing mechanical resonance. Furthermore, the motor was engineered with a speed-sensor system to maintain laser-focused reliability as the platter rotates its two playback speeds: 33-1/3 and 45 rpm. Meanwhile, the AC adapter manages its AD/DC conversions outside of the turntable’s chassis to further eliminate possibilities for noise in your signal chain.
