The Neumann TLM 103 large-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone features a U-87 capsule and transformerless electronics, as well as iconic Neumann sound! The TLM 103 is an excellent microphone for any professional or project studio application, and because of its low self-noise, it has been utilized for classical recordings with a wide dynamic range, sampling (particularly for extremely low amplitude sources), and Foley work.
This mic is also durable enough for live use, as Jack White has used the TLM 103 to mic amps.

The cardioid TLM 103 utilizes a tried-and-true transformerless circuit found in high-end Neumann microphones to achieve its otherwise unattainable low self-noise and the highest sound pressure level transmission possible. By focusing on this pattern the attenuation of unwanted rear sound has been optimized.
