If you’re a Traktor DJ, you know how strong a tool it is for introducing unfettered musicianship, performance capabilities, FX, and more to vastly improve your DJ set. This is why Native Instruments has released the Kontrol X1 Mk3, a long-awaited update to their turntable-less controller.
This DJ controller module has been designed specifically for use with Traktor Pro DJ software, ensuring strong interaction with Traktor’s plethora of musical manipulation features. DJs enjoy the X1 Mk3’s quality-of-life enhancements, which include rich color-coding choices, haptic surface markings, and an extended connection suite that can easily integrate with turntable controllers, custom arrays, and even daisy-chained more X1s.
LEADING WITH LIGHTS
The Traktor Kontrol X1 Mk3 adds an intuitive light guide to enhance your performances, freeing up bandwidth to lock into the moment with significantly less need to watch your laptop’s screen. Five vibrant OLED screens provide critical information across several parameter groups, such as track names, track duration, progress bar, deck assignment, effects, and more. Backlighting onboard isn’t just for show.
Lighting modes are fully adjustable, allowing you to match colors to performance features, decks, FX, and tool sets for unrestricted use and easy identification. A unique light-based highlighting system alerts you immediately when a track is nearing its end or looping, giving you more time to manage transitions.
FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE
Almost every aspect of the X1’s interface has been ergonomically tailored to improve performance while allowing for greater creative freedom. Newly dotted buttons provide fast tactile orientation, while the sleek black interface and matted surface create a purposely gloomy canvas for instantly following and responding to color-coded light-based information. To boost uniformity and surface area, all 20 transport control buttons were revamped.
Almost anything Traktor can do can be mapped for absolute control from the controller module thanks to the X1’s extensive customization capabilities. Of course, you aren’t limited to one: Top-mounted USB-A and USB-B connectors allow you to daisy-chain several X1s together, integrate one or more with turntable DJ controllers, or incorporate into any number of creative configurations.
